Bought a new CX-500 in 79...
Damm near killed myself when the timing chain let go at 7800 km.
Was drivng over the Lions Gate Bridge when it locked up the motor. By the time I got the clutch pulled in it was too late. Down went the bike and I crossing into on comming traffic... I live tell the tail.
Make sure if it's older 500, the recall on the timing chain was done... Think Honda fixed the problem starting from the '1980' models
Other than above incident the bike never cost me a nickel in the 4 years I owned it.
Don't over load up the electrical system, as the alternator output is only 15 or 16 amps if I remeber...

they were a 550 and a 650. One had the travel gear on it and the other had a more racy looking seat. Nice looking bikes, they both went for less than $600 each if I remember right.
That would do for me to replace my Honda 50 and the price is just right. :weightlifter:

They wouldn't have been any good for you, neither one was red!

I don't think it would be fast since the old color is still under there!

You could just put "Red Sunglasses"on !!!

Saves all that money form painting it !

Then does that mean RED Goldwings have to use a RED primer?

The only one I know about is the CBX 550. Here's some data on the 1983. The 1981 should look a lot like it.

I swore that in the early 70's they had a CB 550 inline 4 cylinder like the 750 !

My friend had one in 73 !
Just saw your pic of the bike, they had a naked version of the "Silver Wing" !
