For a 1200, On this web site you can find a new type voltage regulator. Your factory regulator sends the excess voltage to ground at full voltage.this shortens the life of your stator which could cost in excess of 1500 dollars to replace. This new regulator only uses the power from the altenator as you need it. The cost is $150. you should neverneed to replace the stator as long as your bike runs. http://roadstercycle.com

i'll let someone else try this before i'd ever think about this, the regulator isn't the full cause of the stator failures
i'll just install a poorboy kit and geo metro alternator and never have to worry about a problem again imho
