I recently purchased aGL 1200 Limited. The guy I bought it from had 2 goldwing helmets that came with the bike, and they look to be in good condition other than the foam has turned into dust inside. Any help with getting new liners for them would be greatly appreciated!

I can't help you but posting the brand and model of helmet might help.

dude, think twice before putting your head in a helmet that you have no idea if its been in a crash or not, and maybe be unstable. be sure to check it out, front back inside outside, everything! me be a crack in the shell! you never know! rick

Ah were it so easy to see a brand and model. They are "Honda Line", have a DOT sticker, etc in them. Fiberglass shell. They have the factory paint and stickers to match my 85 Limited.

Last thing I want to do is launch a debate on used helmets, I get it! Really looking to use these on Parade rides once I am at the parade but not for everyday cruisin';)

Besides not knowing if it's been in a accident or other, who knows what head it has been on. I say no more.

For PARADE use & such, it would seem the innards of a similar helmet & same size could be installed easy enough. It's only styrofoam & fabric, which are both easy to cut & glue as needed. Stuffings out of a football helmet would probably be as good as most. DOT req's are extremely lame.

No rocket science, there. :)

I've had many used helmets over the years & just sprayed 'em with disinfectant. If helmet isn't banged up, then its OK.

I have 3 'new' helmets ... they are all chipped & scuffed from falling off bike, etc.

Just can't have anything nice. :dude:

You could go to bellhelmets dot com, click on the link on the left "Helmet Parts / Refurbish / Repair"

Hopefully one of their replacement liners will fit.

Or just spend 79.99 and get a Vega Helmet!

Yep, I would go with a new helmet. Gmax helmets are pretty good for the money. I have an open face Gmax that I paid under $50 for and I have got to say it is well made and very comfortable. Buying used helmets I have to say are a bit like buying used underwear. Yuk!

Hi TC, I am a GL1200LTD owner and purchased a Goldwing LTD Helmet from a guy on EBay. Paid $60 US for it. The foam had also turned to dust and the visor is scratched badly. In otherwords it is crap. This helmet, if it is a LTD model (Gold with LTD emblem), is a Shoei and was an expensive helmet. I just put it on display close yto my bike. This does help you too much. Shoei just said buy a new helmet so I bought an Arai Please let me know if there is a fix. ;)

That's odd, Shoei sells replacement liners for their helmets too. try here;

or here;

Thanks Roach, I am not sure if Shoei make inserts for these old helmets. I need to do some research I guess. :)

yeah, matching your old helmet to a current model will probably be difficult. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the help! I will try to match up one of the new inserts to go into the old helmets. The TZ-R looks like a possible match to the full helmet, and the J-Wing for the 3/4. Should be good enough for parade use!
