Hello, I am new to this forum and have an 1800 2006 Goldwing. I am curious about either having it Triked or trading it in for a Trike. Any inputs or suggestions would be appreciated. Are there Trike Kits a person could buy and install?

Dave, Welcome to the Forum from Kansas! :waving:

I hope you find our little place as informative and fun as we do! :cooldevil:

We have a 2008 CSC Trike that we bought new. If you don't have a Goldwing to use, yes buy one already triked but hold onto your wallet (Pricey!)

But in your case, you can save a lot of money by triking your existing Goldwing. The are several makes of trikes out there as in California Side Car (CSC), Hannigan, Motor Trike, Champion and a few more that I can't think of right now. I would Google it and you will come up with a good many. All of the trike kit brands are good but I can only speak of the CSC kit as I researched that for my father.

The CSC Cobra (made for the GL-1800) depending on what you want as options was around $15K. A brand new one already triked out can be $32K - $37K depending on what brand and how much the dealer is proud of it.

If I were thinking of a trike, I would trike the existing GL-1800 instead of buying a new one. (Unless you like that new bike smell! ;))

The money sort of works like this depending on your deal in your area: (Remember, this is what I found in my area, it can be completely different all over)

$20,000 for a new GL-1800

$15,000 for a CSC Cobra Kit

$3,000 labor to assemble the kit

Total $ 38K! List

Now these prices can vary and I am shooting rough numbers at you so you will have to do your research but it gives you an idea. We chose the CSC Cobra because of independent suspension, looks, and most of all price. Not that it is any better than any other trike, it was the only option that was available at the time we wanted to buy. We did look at Champion and Lehmans but couldn't get the dealers off list price so we walked.

I highly do recommed the EZ Steer Kit (raked front)for whatever make of trike you decide on. It will make a absolute difference and makes the trike more enjoyable to steer effortless.

Thanks, the numbers are relatively the same that I've been considering. It looks like I'll be saving to get this wing triked unless I get a good deal on a trade-in, but that's not too likely.

Welcome to the forum.

Man, these trikes are pricey!

I have a CSC sidecar on my GL1500 and it's a blast to ride and gets tons of attention (having the dog ride helps too!). Actually, I tell everyone it really belongs to the dog, I'm just the driver!

It's a little different ride but an interesting (and way cheaper) alternative to a trike.

Check into kitting one yourself. It is quite do-able with some basic skills. May save a bundle, and you'd know every aspect of the trike cause you built it! jmho jimsjinx

There is company here in Canada goes under the name Tri-Wing, They ship world wide, perhaps you could contact them for another alternative.

Another to check is Champion Side Car, inc. Whatever kit you get, make sure you add the racked Triple Tree. Well worth the money. I rode an independent suspension last week. I really think I still like my straight axle better.
