Hi just bought a gl 1500 se accident damaged ,top faring and ignition switch smashed taken switch off andtaken thebottom of switch turned on with screwdriver but stillwon.t start has goldwings got any sort of key recognition or built in immobiliser ,also where is the best place to buy a new ignitionswitch from

Welcome to the forum.
I take it from what you're saying is you are trying to start it without replacing anything that's been damaged in the accident? With the extent of damage you described, the tipover switch and other safety relays could be damaged. If you don't have a repair manual, start by getting one as it will have a electrical diagrams section as there are many saftey relays that have to be in order, otherwise they won't start.

The 1500 didn't hve a "smart key" or such from the factory...

What does power-up when you turn the "key" switch?

As mentioned, there'e quite a few circuits each with fused or other protections... , but there's always that "get lucky" bike too -- Let's have a go at it

Also, is your new prize a local bike or USA spec or ??
