Got a new 'Wing today... with a difference!

I boughta 2004 'Wing today. Nope not one of those with the less than beautiful headlights, this one is a Silverwing 600. I've been looking for a scooter for town errands for a couple years now and was interested mostly in a Burgman 650. This low mileage Silverwing came up today in Craigslist for $2800 so I thought I'd take a look. I shouldn't have done the test ride. I got hooked. This thing is almost as good as the Burgman and does have a few advantages over the slightly larger scooter. It's a bit mechanically simpler but just about as quick. I just hope the big red garage Queen won't mind having a small sister sharing her space. She shouldn't mind too much though, this one is still a Honda and it's also red, burgundy, butthat's still red.

Hey, keep me updated on the silverwing. I've been looking at scooters for the same reason you bought yours. I also thought it would be great to pull on vactions when I take the car. :clapper::clapper::clapper:

Heheheh,

Scared me as I could imagine all the comments made about you converting to the Ugly Headlight Set.

I'll catch the pics Monday when I get back in town.

There are couple of reasons the scooter appealed to me. One is riding two up in town with the woman who hangs around here. The big 'Wing takes a lot of concentration running around town with a passenger doing errands. Parking lots can be sweat producers with the way cars will cut you off suddenly. The little 'Wing is so much lighter with a much lower CG that it takes the worry out of the parking lots. Don't have to watch your foot placement that much either, a little oil or gravel isn't necessarily a prelude to the bike laying down on you. The other reason is that I tend to wear shorts and sandals in summer, it gets hot here. It's always been a bother to change clothes to run down to the hardware or grocery store a couple miles away. On the scooter I'll run the risk of riding short errands in my summer duds. With no foot shift to hurt my foot in the sandals I don't have to change shoes either. I'm not too worried about being hurt in an accident but I sure don't want to be on my big 'Wing with shorts and sandalsif it decides to lay down in a parking lot in a fit of pique after being cut off by an inattentive cager.

Paul,

Very nice. I had not been looking at that one very close. That could be a very good thing for me to use with my 5th wheel trailer

That thing looka like lots of fun. Hey, Do You know what the mpg is suppose to be on those things?

yeah...... I saw one of those the other day. Was headed over to the lake where we keep our motorhome for the season, and a mid aged couple were on it. Dang thing ran along 65 mph like a breeze. I followed them all the way over to the lake out of respect. (didn't want to pass them) It looked like a good solid little ride.

Great buy.......by-the-way.

Congrats on the deal. My mind is working in that direction "for the future". I think those are really a great little bikes.

I'd like to see more hp/torque for me though - I could never ride 2 up on 'em and would probably be pretty slow even solo...LOL Actually sometimes I even think the full big bikes are challenged. I KNOW that was the case when I had my 1500...

There are some of us who are too old to care what we look like any more.;)I had the little beast out on the freeway today and it sure didn't have any problem zipping along at 75-80mph. I wouldn't want to make a 400 mile run on it in a day, it just isn't as comfortable as my Big Wing but it's sure is handy for what it's made for. This one will stay in the stable, eventually the Big Wing will be too much for me as I continue to deteriorate with age but I should be able to ride the Little Wing for a long time in the future, God willing.

Well, Red and I sure had fun on a rented Silverwing in 2004 in Switzerland......

We fell in love with the damned thing!

I sure wouldn't be ashamed to be seen on it, even if I'm not as old as Exavid!

:DYou shot your ugly headlight argument in the foot when you posted that front view. You really can't call an 1800's headlights uglyif your gonna be the proud owner of the angry wasp!:D
