Awright, I jumped off into it. After looking at several bikes, I got on the bus this past Sunday, plunked down the money and took the bike for a ride. 300 miles later, I was home.

I feel great about the bike. I couldn't have ended up with nearly as nice a bike if not for all the advice from you guys. Not only did I find a good looker, but it is (now) a 3rd-owner bike that I know a lot about the history of.

The fork seals need to be redone and there was a little klunk in the steering head, but I figure those are both relatively easy fixes.

She starts up nicely in the mornings and purrs at idle. I got just over 40mpg on the trip home and that included a lot of stop-n-go in construction on the slab south of Dallas.

Thanks again to all you guys that gave me great information on what to look for.

Beautiful bike, is it an 85 (or newer)? Mine had about the same mileage when I got it and I am the third owner. They are great bikes for sure.

Thanks everyone, yes, I'm enjoying it!

NFA, it is an 87. Still had original owner's manual, tool kit, carpet in the side and trunk boxes and original Aspencade bags, all 3. AM/FM Cassette and CB all work. Feels like a 5 year old bike instead of almost 25 years.

I know how you feel ! I picked my 1985 Aspencade up a couple of months ago with just 6700 miles on her and nowshe looks and runs like she just came out of the factory.

Congrats and enjoy, I know I am.

A'n 87 you say you should have talked to deniss before you jumped in.
The 87 are a rare breed and in another 300,000 miles you may find it hard to find 87 parts!!!!!

Yeah, I did check with Dennis and he gave me the go-ahead. I guess he and I will be fighting over parts bikes. :action:
