Awright, I jumped off into it. After looking at several bikes, I got on the bus this past Sunday, plunked down the money and took the bike for a ride. 300 miles later, I was home.
I feel great about the bike. I couldn't have ended up with nearly as nice a bike if not for all the advice from you guys. Not only did I find a good looker, but it is (now) a 3rd-owner bike that I know a lot about the history of.
The fork seals need to be redone and there was a little klunk in the steering head, but I figure those are both relatively easy fixes.
She starts up nicely in the mornings and purrs at idle. I got just over 40mpg on the trip home and that included a lot of stop-n-go in construction on the slab south of Dallas.
