Just wondering if I can use the cigarette lighter socket on the dash of my 85 - GL1200 LTD to power my portable GPS?

Also, does anyone have a suggestion as to a type and mounting location for a driver's beverage holder? Maybe even a pic of yours!

On my 87 I power the GPS out of the lighter socket. I never have gotten around to doing a nice 'built-in' wiring job.

I don't have a drink holder so am unable to shed any light on that one.

RAM Motorcycle Mount

Lots of fellows like this company, myself included. I like the mount on the clutch bracket. But others have mounted it on the front brake side. And still others have made some great custom mounts in various locations. It's up to you really.

Cigarette lighter socket is just fine....or you could hard wire the unit. Careful if you hard wire it to get the right cable for the unit or the GPS will go into mass storage mode and be unable to navigate.

There are drink holders that mount like the Ram Mount above,
I used this one on my 83 1100

scooby's problem is compounded with the fact that he doesn't have round handlebars on the sei so that makes mounting things somewhat different but not impossible
