I just received my new GPS today & was wondering how everyone mounted theirs.

Mine appears that with the suction cup mount it will sit on the dash right above the speedo & tach.

Do I trust this & if sodid you use the adhesive disk?

+1 for the RAM mount.

I use the suction cup on the windshield. Slightly wet the cup and apply it. I also tether it to the Mirror just in case it comes loose. There is a mount available for it but I am too frugal to buy it.

Another vote for the RAM mount.

Mine is holding fine (on the disk)... several months now and I have not even reset it... If you want it more permanent, then use rtv.... .. but you'll have trouble removing it later... can also use the rtv on the suction cup.. but it will be more or less permanent..

Ihad a RAM mount off the left handle bar but it was difficult to see without dropping my head down and to the left. Replaced it with a Texelent bar across the handlebars and that's just about perfect. The gpsisjust below the guages as I look forward and I don't have to move my head to see it.

I bought the RAM mount for mine as well. Very easy to install (although I did have to shorten the 2 mounting screws), but easy to take on/off when you don't need it.

Do you have a pic of that? I would like it to be right in front of me.

Never mind. Looked it up & as usual, nothing for the 1200.

When I had the 1500, I used the adhesive disk and the suction mount on the flat part above the radio, and never had a problem, but when I bought the 1800, I ordered me a Ram mount from cycle gadgets. The ram mount is far more secure, and also, since it is mounted on the handlebar, I can see it better.:)

I made a little bracket for my Tom Tom and put it under my left mirror. The logic being that looking at the Tom Tom was not such a distraction as I would be looking at my mirror anyway. It also made it easy to connect to the power supply which came from within the fairing.

Only limitation is that it is not protected from the rain. Otherwise, works well for me!!

BTW, I bought a spare mount on E-Bay and removed the suction cup to adapt it to my bracket.

This is what I did for my GPS. I had mounted the little disc on the side of the tank, heat caused it to come off and it shook when attached to the windshield and it wouldn't stay put by itself on the tank.

I had ordered an extra cover and pocket recently because I had to remove the lock in the right side fairing pocket. I took the mount apart and then screwed it back together with the suction part behind the top of the pocket cover and the attachment on the top. It ended up being a nice little solid attachment. It is under the handle bar on the right side which gives it some shade and it in a spot I can glance at without too much trouble.

I mount mine with velcro on the dash one piece on the windshield and on the dash. Never had a problem with it being secure and it is right in front and center of me so just a glance down and I can see it without taking my eyes away from the road directly in front of me. I'm sure the ram mount are great but my system works for me and velcro is cheap:D

Yeah thats what I've got. You also need the cradle, which is the piece that holds the GPS unit and the arm that connects the the cradle to the ball.

Ram mount for the GPS and Ram mount for the Sat. radio. Can't beat those Ram mounts.
