A brief note from a new member--this looks like a great (and really active and helpful!) forum.
I'm brand new to Gold Wings but not at all new to motorcycling -> I have 45 years of motorcycling under my belt. My joy is long-distance solo touring, but with the Wing, I now have the opportunity to bring along my lovely "SO." I am coming to Wing-dom most recently from a BMW R1100GS, which I still own, but it was a task to convince my SO to join me on that tough guy -- with the luxury, comfort, and pillion security of the Wing, I'm anticipating no such problems now!
I'm going to give the bike a maiden run on a 2-week trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico (and including central Nevada, central/southern Utah, and western Colorado), starting June 27th.
I look forward to meeting all of you on line and learning from you. In fact, I've learned a lot already: b/c the Wing is giving me some unexpected back ache, I've just ordered a Utopia backrest, based on what I read here (not to mention having viewed Steve's video as he performed 'open-heart surgery' on the seat back.. ouch!). See you all on the road!
