Grinding/rattling sound???

Lately I was changing spark plugs wire & when Istarted the bike after it had this noise, loud, when I give gas it's like somethings loose in the engine. The only time it doesn't make the noise, is when I press the clutch lever. Even in neutral it grinds if I give gas.

A month before I changed my head covers for chrome ones, at the same time the head gaskets because their were gone.

It sounds like clutch problem. Help, tuesday i wanted to open it up, but it would be nice to have some sort of deirection. Thanks.

If the noise goes away when you press the clutch, its possibly rumbling gear cluster bearings.

What's that bearing, hard job to change. It just happens?

Hi Bugs, welcome to the forum.

'Wings can make a lot of noise if they're not running on all 4 cylinders. The fact that this started when you changed the plug wires makes me wonder if something is not connected properly.

Go back and make sure all of you connections, from the coils to the sparkplugs, are correct and tight.

Pull the plug wires one by one and hook them to a spare plug and seeif it is firing.

Hey Dennis, I totally agree with you about the noise on three cylinders, but remember that when I pull the clutch lever everythings fine...

BTW thanks for the welcome guys. :dude:

The clutch has a big ol' chain hooked to it. Pull in the clutch and the basket and chain stop rattling. That's the noise, but what's making them rattle? My guess is an out of balance engine. Like one running on 3 cylinders. Remember you changed the wires and this started. Right?

Ok, I'll check that out. Thanks
