I work in the repair industry, so I'd NEVER accuse someone of faulty installation.......
What type of stem was it?
What type of stem was it?
+1 If you don't ask, you won't get them. If you don't get them, you have no one to blame but yourself. You didn't ask.The last time I had my tires changed at the Honda dealer and asking why they didn't change the valve stems I was told there was no need as the stem doesn't bend like in a car rim.
The rear stem failed about six months later.
I was later at the Yamaha dealer and asked about their policy on changing stems with tires and was told that they use to ask but gave up as no one would pay the extra couple of dollars for a new stem.:wtf:
So it pays to ask for new stems every time you have someone else change a tire for you.
That's what I said.+1 If you don't ask, you won't get them. If you don't get them, you have no one to blame but yourself. You didn't ask.
The statement in the original post wasHis statement was the tire and the stem were replaced 300 miles ago.
ThenI had the bike totally checked out by a reputable bike mechanic who mounted a new front tire.
Together that suggests that he assumed the stem was changed but as you say we'll not know until he talks to his "reputable bike mechanic" and reports back here.and the tire & stem had less than 300 miles on them.
Well said. I had to go back and re-read. Yes He stated the tire and stem was replaced. You guys sure make a lot of assumptions.
He "thought" a new one installed?
You assume he did have a new one installed.
You assume he didn't have a new one installed.
His statement was the tire and the stem were replaced 300 miles ago.
Interestingly enough, he's made this one post and not replied to any of the questions.
Until he does.......you can continue to assume your collective........
