MY rule of thumb is to replace the stem at EVERY tire change. As it is, it has been the same mileage as the tire. So why wouldn't it be worn out too? I know GW stems are pricey. Isn't the stem CHEAPER than dismounting tire again?
I know some people say "it looks ok, just leave it". Then the tire starts losing air...uuummmm.
MY rule on tube type tires is to replace the tube when changing tire also!!!

I also have seen some stems tear when installing ALSO..So I am not sure which one this case may be.
Just my opinions..

You guys sure make a lot of assumptions.
He "thought" a new one installed?
You assume he did have a new one installed.
You assume he didn't have a new one installed.
His statement was the tire and the stem were replaced 300 miles ago.
Interestingly enough, he's made this one post and not replied to any of the questions.
Until he does.......you can continue to assume your collective........
Well said. I had to go back and re-read. Yes He stated the tire and stem was replaced.
I didn't notice he hasn't responded to any post, until now.
