whats the best way to hand crank a 83 1100 motor can I go throught the back cover like a 1000 or put it in 5 gear and turn the rear wheel

A buddy of mine might buy it but I want to see if the motor turns over first

Take the spark plugs out while on the centerstand , put in first gear and rotate rear wheel.

Why don't you take your 1200 over and try to start the bike??

I made a big mistake not bringing a batterry when I bought the '83 Aspy; would have found out about the mice ridden wires during the sale!

the bike has other problems too one being the starter

I left of the word "battery" sorry.

Anyway, the back of the stator cap is a 17mm and the bolt on the stator is a 12mm. You can turn the motor with a socket wrench. Try not to loosen the bolt.

Crank the motor clockwise.

Actually, it's a lot easier if you put it in fifth gear and then rotate the wheel.

These guys hit it on the head. This is the easiest way to do it.

I found the hole in the back for the 12 mm the motoe turns over just fine

I wasnt sure if the 1100 had the access hole like the 1000 do
