More jobs with benefits I would hope. Any help in a bad economy couldn't hurt.

The state of Pa. gave a lot of money to VW and SONY to locate in New Stanton and after the tax breaks they pulled out of Dodge. At least Harley is American made. With that being said, I still prefer my Goldwing for the long trips we take every year.

I think anything that increases the number of Harley guys on the road is a good thing!

The more Harleys there are the better I feel about my Honda!

Why would Harley be building a new plant with all the lay offs their in the process of doing? Me thinks they don't want to help their people with re-locating costs.

I think that just about anything our current governer has his hands on is a knife to the throat of the blue collar worker and not worth commenting on.The man is a politician, that's why some 80,000 state workers are going with-out a paycheck this week.DARN, I just commented... :gunhead:

Well you know we have to spread the wealth.

Handing someone money DOES NOT help them.........

When government involves itself in free enterprise, it ceases to be free enterprise. Whose money fdo you think is being used to build this new plant. Tax dollars are supposed to be used for running the government and free enterprise is about people managing their businesses. This would be a form of socialism at the local level just as we have it at the national level now. Just my humble opinion.

I've learned to trust Bernie's opinion..... not Bernie himself, just his opinions! (If you want, I tell you a story about a set of missing keys and Bernie and me someday!)

He's right on about this one; government shouldn't be in the business of building motorcycles. If you want to know how good governments are at building motorcycles, go find a Ural and check it out.... the old Soviet government stole the design and features from BMW, in 1939, and produced them without improvement for nearly forty years...... some improvements were introduced when the bike and sidecar were imported into America, but not many...... and the bike is purchased today mainly for it's outdated "charm" features and as an historical oddity......some people think it's cool to ride a 1939 motorcycle! I thinkany government, given a choice, would like to take motorcycles away from us all.... can't let the masses have too much fun, you know?

I don't like multi-national corporations very much, but I absolutely hate governments! You have at least a modicum of control over corporations (you can quit buying their products), but governments? Governments you have to vote out of office if you're lucky; and overthrow if you're not!

(slightly edited for political content! Don't want to upset our indefatigable Wexy, which I probably already have!)

Yup. The government doesn't have any money. It is an empty pipe that just movesmoney from one pocket to another. What people think of the concept usually depends on whether the money is flowing into or out of their pocket.

Unjustified Government bailoutsare like reverse mortgages. You still live in the same place but have more money to spend and it sounds good. Then the day comes that you realize you don't own the house any more and can't afford to buy it back.

We are flirting with the axeman regarding politicalcontentso let's not step too close to the blade.:cooldevil:

I heard that Honda was keeping the plant open making car parts. That'sa good thing but somehow it won't be the same.

A worker can point to a Goldwing and say"I helped make that".

It loses a lot when he points to a Civic and says "I helped make the bracket that holds the fuel filter".
