I am searching for a deeper, more aggressive tread tire, particularly for the front of my 2006 GW. I have tried Metzeler, GW-specific Dunlops and am currently running Bridgestones. The Bridgestones are good tires, for sure, but... they are literately dangerous when dealing with tar strips, and unfortunately, in Indiana we deal with a lot of tar strips!

Does anyone have experience with a Dunlop D404 front tire on their 1800?

DUNLOP 404

Actually, I did some more research and also called Dunlop directly and chatted with an engineer. The D404 is DEFINITELY not a usable choice for a 1800GL because it is not properly load-weighted and is also Bias-Ply tire.

I also discussed the heavier-duty D402, but again - it is not a proper GL tire and is still a bias-ply tire.

My search for a tire that handles tar-strips continues. Any suggestions? Thanks, James
