I have only been riding for 5 years. My first bike was a 1983 GL1100. I found out my feet were too close to the rest of my body so I had to trike it. I saw pictures of the new Spyder and decided this was the way to go - 2 wheels in the front. Since it wasn't factory, I couldn't ride it on the highway, so I purchased a 1999 GL1500 to which I added a Tow Pac trike kit. This was great and my wife and I rode it for two years on rides with our Chapter. My wife started having trouble getting up on the rear seat, so the Tow Pac went and I added a Hannigan side car. Now my wife is in a world of her own and manages to catch a few zzzzz's while we are riding.
All this was done on a beginners licence. Time was running out, I had to take a drivers test to get my Motorcycle Operator Licence. I purchased a Yamaha 650 V-Star and learned to ride on two wheels and was able to pass the test last month. I quickly found out the 650 wasn't big enough so it was sold the day after my test and I now have a V-Star 1100. The wife and I still enjoy the Gold Wing but I enjoy my V-star as often as I can.
Oh! by the way. I am 75 years old and my wife is 83. Wished we had gotten the bug years ago.
