Hello, I am BoB Hall from Cape Town, South Africa.
Age 54, married to Marina for 20 years, one 12 year old daughter Tara, and three cats.
Joint MD and owner of redPanda Software, a software development house specializing in large retail systems.
Grew up in the UK and extensively toured Europe on my bike, a 1979 Honda 750KZ. Moved to South Africa in 1982, when I was 22, with the idea of having a slightly bigger adventure and seeing more of the world, but ended up staying!
Started riding motorbikes around the local fields when I was 14, and have never stopped, always owning at least one. More recently some financial success has allowed me to acquire a few old and not so old bikes and I have a growing collection of over 20. A lot of these being bikes are from late 1970s early 1980s, bikes I had lusted after but could not afford at that time.
Recently added not one, but two blue GL1100 Interstates to my collection. Saw them both on the local GumTree, called for what I considered the best one and found it had been sold so went after and purchased the second, fairly happy with it other that the handlebars are offset when riding straight and some of the cosmetics around the fairing are not 100%. Then the first bike reappeared on GumTree after the original sell fell through, went and looked and it did seem a better bike so bought that one as well. Rode it home and a bit the next day, then it refused to start properly so now have two GL1100 Interstates one steers crooked and one does not start very well, great!
