Hello all. I just want to say that this is a very impressive forum for the Goldwing. I've looked at several and there is far more information here than the others I have seen.
Just bought my 1st Goldwing, a 1999 SE. Picked it up last Tuesday. A beautiful bike. My previous bike (for sale if anyone is interested) is a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50. Also a very nice bike but after a couple of years and road trips I felt that something a littlemore comfortable was required. My wife didn't care for the passenger seat on the C50 either.
The C50 was my 1st bike so I'm a new rider, about 2 years now. I find the Goldwing to be quite a bit different and taking some getting used to. For one thing, the C50 had a heel/toe shifter, the wing doesn't. I know ther are after market kits but thought I'd try to adjust. Same with the position of the rear brake. I don't think either will be a problem as I seem to be geting used to them.
In my first week of ownership I'm ashamed to say I've almost dropped the bike twice. the first time I was stopping at a red light and my right pant leg got hooked on the highway peg. A very exciting time. The second time I was pulling into the Honda dealership and well, just over corrected at slow speed. A really emabarrasing moment. Went over pretty far before I caught it. You never know your own strength until your about to put scartches on a beautiful new toy. Looks like I'll be spending some more time with slow speed manuevers in the parking lot this weekend.
Anyway, thanks for such a great website. I'll visit often.
