I am newly retired and back in the market for a bike. I have owned many bikes over the years but my only Goldwing was a 1978 model which in 1987 I completed a solo cross country trip on. Being extremely budget concious I am looking at 1985-1995 models. Whatever I do I enjoy reading the forums and gathering info. If money were no problem I would probably buy a 1500cc model.

well, anything beyond 1987 is going to be 1500cc

so, include the 1988-89 for the Gen-1 model of 1500s

and the 1990-2000 for the Gen-2 versions

about 1997 the transmission was upgraded to a Valkerie transmission.

you can find 1500s down below $3,000 almost anywhere, and some very nice ones have shown up for $2,000 and below....

if someone gets in a bind, they will flip them fast.

I live in Michigan also and have a beautiful low mileage 87 Aspencade that I am looking to sell. It is Wineberry in color, and has under 10,000 miles on the clock. Everything works and the carbs and fork seals were worked in 2013. Here's a picture taken last summer. I'm asking $3800.00 OBO

GL1500 transmission and drive line was upgraded in 1997 Headlights were upgraded in 1998. Cornering lights were changed to full time running lights on the SE in 1998.

Starting and ignition circuits were upgraded in 1993.

This bike is in excellent condition and everything works (reverse, cruise control, air suspension, all switch functions etc.

A lot of GL1500's have had (two or more) owners and usually don't have maintenance records.
