Hello Goldwingers,

I just joined about a week ago, I'm a little old and have never been part of a forum. I have already asked a technical question, but I have not introduced myself. I live in Pasadena, Texas, which is about 15 minutes from downtown Houston. I am also a veteran and proud to have served in the US Coast Guard. "Semper Paratus, Always Ready". Point Nowell is the name of the cutter that I was stationed on.

I have a 1994 GL 1500 SE, teal color, I have owned it since 2007, I am the third owner. I love it. I also have a 2010 Vulcan 900.

I ride at least 2 to 3 times a week, on weekends I take each bike for at least a 90 mile trip to keep them and myself in shape. I usually ride to the south because I live closer to the south and I avoid having to ride through Houston traffic, however, I do go anywhere with a couple of other riding buddies.

I am glad that you goldwingers allow me to join the forum. I am unfamiliar with forum stuff but I will make an effort to be less resistant to this type of arena and be more active.

My first post was made because I had a problem with the GW not starting, even though it was in neutral, the green light did not appear, the other instruments were working, radio, clock, oil pressure, gas level, horn, lights, brakes, etc. I quickly got respones from many of you, all advice led to clean the reverse switch and spring with electric contact cleaner. I removed the reverse switch and spring, cleaned them both, now the GW sparks up like an Indy race car. This all happened yesterday and of course I took my 90 mile trip to make sure that everything was in shape. My face was hurting because I smiled the whole 90 mile trip. You guys THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. The GW manual did not really have a solution for the problem. I was already making plans for a tow truck to take me to the Honda dealer and the fix to cost me a pile of money. THANK YOU!!!

In conclusion, I am glad to have found you, I will spend a lot of time reading up on everyones prior post's, and learn more about my GW.

BEST REGARDS AND SEMPER PARATUS !
