Why Ned and Rosie? Well after ten years of Winging Rosie(me) has published a book onour travels after finding our Gold Wing GL1500 quite by chance in 1998 in Colwyn Bay Motorcycles. Called Just Us Two: Ned and Rosie's Gold Wing Discovery by Rosalie Marsh, the Rosie bit was easy but what to call this Winger-'Him up Front'? A play on his real namedid not sound right and 'Ned' is someone, tall, strong and dependable which describes 'him up front'.
A week after collecting our GoldWing we were back up the A55 in North Wales for the ferry to Ireland. I had never seen a ferry before!!
Heading to Westport in Co Mayo and Ballycroy, we hope to find where my Grandparents had come from and found family alive and well and found we had cousins in America. There was much emotion and tears and I wrote it all down and all about this most beautiful part of God's earth where the houses were perched on the edge of the sea. :leprechaun:
The notepad lingered in a drawer for ten years as we embarked on our doscoveries and adventures, having a lot of fun as we 'found our lost youth'. Joining the GoldWing Owners Club of GB and North Wales Wings opened the doors and changed our lives. I sent feature articles to the club magazine and eventually put them all alltogether as I knew there was a story to tell. In 2004 Ned was taken ill and in 2005 we reluctantly converted 'his baby' to a trike and continued our journeys. However in 2008 we sadly realised that Ned had to give up Winging altogether and we waved 'his baby' off to a new home in Essex.
we are still heavily involved with the club and North Wales Wings http://www.northwaleswings.co.uk where I am the Regional Rep now(for my sins) and, being retired I have more time for that. Weare coming back to Ireland this summer and Co.Mayo. Our story will be in the westport Bookshops by the end of the month and others. there is a lot of interest globally through on-line outlets and intrest in our inspirational story is growing here at home. We did not travel in a group- we just stuck pins in maps and went for it -Just Us Two. http://www.discover-rosalie.com (The above is an abridged version of the start of the story.)
