I have a 1984 gl 1200 standard, when the key is in the on position the head, tail, brake, signal, gauges, and warning lights do not work, but the bike starts and runs. However, when the key is in the park position, the parking light works (rear tail/brake light). I dismantled the switch, took it apart cleaned the contacts, and the problem still exists. Can anyone help? Thank you

Welcome to the best goldwing web site. Pull up a chair, get a cup of coffee.

I am not a 1200 man but would suspect a link from the switchto a relay or wire in a connector is missing. Need to trace the wiring, check in your manual. Could be someone installed a switch to turn lights off for daylight running.

One of the 1200 guru's will be along soon

I think there was a recall on some year model 1200 ign switch. I had a similar problem with my LTD. I repaired it by modifying the wiring circuits. In each position make sure you have current at each wire when you should.
