the insurance company should settle next week, i am not sure yet how much but i have started to research both 1500 and 1800s. is there a place to get the info on features they various models have? what would the difference be between say an interstate or an aspencade or se?

i was looking at a special edition 1500 at the local dealers but could not find a radio even though it has the handle bar controls, the sales people have been no help. so want to find info on what each model includes.

thanks!

If you go to the top of this forum click on links look for buyers guide it should have what you are looking for. Hope it helps Hal
i did but didn't see breakdown between models.
I looked at goldwing history it has some info in it but not a complete brake down but does have some. Sorry I cant think of any other info. Hal
The AM/FM radio is in the false tank. It may be under a plastic cover. The CB is in the left lower side of the fairing.

I have a 96 SE. They are the top of the line models.

The Interstate does not have reverse. While you probably won't use it much, it does come in handy at times.
if the radio is under the false tank how do you know what station your on as there is no display?

The electronics are under the shelter, but the controls are on top the shelter. The LCD panel between the speedo and tach is what displays the channel you are on, etc...

You may not see the controls if there is a cover over the controls to keep the elements out.

The best info is in the Goldwing history.

I cant' add much more, but the 1500' as stated the Interstate does not have reverse, did not come with C/B and less dials on the radio, and no Cruise Control. Aspencade has reverse and more dials on the Radio, also did not come with C/B. The SE is the top of the line model came standard with C/B, Cruise, Reverse, lights at the bottom of the front fairing that come on with turn signals, a rear spoiler and adjustable passenger foot boards. It is easily identified by the two tone paint, unless it's black. The radio dials and cassette are on the front of the false tank in front of the door for the gas filler neck. It might have the cover installed which is about a 6" square plastic piece that just comes off and most people leave it off, usually used when driving in the rain or when washing the bike.

The 1800 is more subtle like a larger display for the radio clock etc would be a navigation model also the nav model has controls for the nav unit on the right side shelter below the fairing pocket. Their are other differences for the ABS models and Air Bag models, but I don't know those as much. You could see if you can find the owners manuals online and brouse those for the differences also.

Hope this helps some.

Yes on the 1500 the radio is on the top of the shelter. There is a cover plate that snaps over the radio to hide it. You can ride with this cover off or on.
As far as options I think a lot may have been dealer installed so you have to look at each bike and see what they may have.. T

If the sales people have been no help, try the sales manager, or another dealer. There are also two nice GL1500's for sale by members of this Forum [both are SE models] in the for sale section and very reasonable prices. Contact them fly out and ride one of them home. Unless you can legally steal one locally, check the for sale section out.
thanks for the help, waiting to see how much they will pay. they are calculating the add ons. hopefully when the pay off if i can buy mine back i will try to sell with the matching trailer and maby can find a deal on an 18, other wise will look at the 1500. hopefully will settle this week.
