Help yourself to get noticed on the Freeways

A couple of years ago, I added a set of aux Arrow LED Lights to my mirrors in hopes of being noticed by inattentive cagers on the freeways. It was a simple install, as the LED lights(available in either Red, or Amber) have pressure sensitive tape on the back side and 2 leads to hook up. I drilled a small hole in my mirror housing and in the fairing and installed a couple of small rubber grommets to prevent chaffing. Next I hooked them up to the corresponding hot signal wire for each side, using a Posi-Tap on each side, so if I need to remove the mirrors from the fairing/bike, I can just undo the Posi-Tap and remove them.

How well do they work? ... well, lets just say I'm very pleased with this rather inexpensive mod and anyone who has ridden behind me can't help but notice them, when flashing. Although not quite as unobtrusive as the very expensive Muth Signal Mirrors, I think they are fairly 'clean' looking and don't distract/block your view to the rear.

During the day, they are bright enough to be easily noticed and yet at night, they are not 'over powering' to the rider, but you'll definitely know they are on.

It was on partialChoke and only idiling at ~ 1200rpm. It tends to do that at that RPM range while getting warmed up. Knock it off choke and it idles fine.

Mine does the exact same thing when on partial choke. Idles and runs great off choke.

I've thought about using those too but I don't have a way to disguise the wiring on an 1100 if mounted to the front or rear of the fairing mirrors.

Good one Ken, I have lot's of bike lites but I do use them on 1 of my car's, mostly cause I can't see the indicators on the dash & I never hear the blinker so I notice them. I have a buddy in Peterborough ( Douro) who comes down to meet in Kalidar (Hwy #7) for coffee, I'll let you know the next time we are hooking up. :waving:

Was out for a ride to Fenelon Falls, Minden, Gravenhurst, Washago and back to Beaverton - 230km, rain in the tail half, but a joy to get out and see the Muted colours.

Come on Sunshine - should be quite a 'Show' by then. :coollep:!
