High Idle when warm

I am working out the bugs on a 1983 Aspencade I recently bought, 53000 miles and appears to be well maintained. The bike started and ran ok so I ventured out on a 425 mile trip on July 4th. By the time I got home the idle speed would not come below 3000 rpm. I spent yesterday lubing all the linkage, adjusting idle etc. I then concluded it may be a vaccum leak. I started to spray carb cleaner in small amounts at all the suspect places. When I spray at the point on the rear of the carbs where the throttle shaft goes into the carb bodys the idle jumps up high.

My carbs look to have a nylon bushing that is held into place in the side of the carb by a spring on this shaft. Also I understand that there is a felt seal ?. i cant find anywhere in the factory service manual or parts manual that shows how to fix this problem or where to get these seals. HELPPPPPPP !!!!!

Welcome Patriot,

The idle raises on mine too when it's warm, but only 2 or 3 hundred rpm. Yours sounds very serious.

The parts you seek are made of unobtainium.

Since I have similar carb problems, and we're on the opposite ends of the same town, perhaps we canexchange info on mechanics, and theirabilities.I'll PM you.

The folks at Western Honda are good for parts. And their mechanics, well...the folks at Western Honda are good for parts.
