Hi,

My goldwing 1500 sey, 2000 model has an ongoing charging problem and as I intend to run a trailer this year I know that there may be a problem. Threre is nothing wrong with the electrical system, just the alternator puts out a maximun 12.9v. Anyone know of a cheap high output alternator for sale, as postage for a new one, and then duty, from the usa is expensive. I like the idea of an alternator shop doing it, but I have no idea where or how to fnd one in the UK.

Perhaps you can have your (stock) unit modified by a local alternator shop, to a higher output?

My local shop offered to do that quite cheaply (~$80)

Remove that alternator and rebuild it, but epoxy it see if larger brushes will fit, larger reg and good bearings...a rewind shop should be able to help.
