Holes on the side of the front fender of an 07 Wing

On a recent trip someone noticed there were two holes in the front fender of my 07 Wing (one on each side near the front of the fender. He asked me what the purpose was and I didn’t have a good answer. He pointed out that a lot of road dirt came through those holes and got the fender, chrome, and driving lights dirty. It was pretty obvious the dirt was coming through the holes and being carried backwards. I thought about covering the holes with a reflector or something but decided to ask and see if anyone knows what the exact purpose of the holes are – if any other than looks. Any thoughts??? Thanks in advance!!!

Those triangular holes are just part of Honda's design. There are several after market add ons that can close them up.

Any suggestions or web sites. I was thinking offabricating some lights or reflectors but if someone has already invented the wheel all the better.

Thanks for the reply.
