I have an 83. My engine number is about 200,000 units later than yours. Engine and/or
frame numbers do not always run consecutively.

A plate identifying the year of manufacture can be found on the left side of the steering
column below the instruments.

If this is missing the VIN number would be helpful. It is stamped into the right side of
the steering column below the instruments and is 17 digits long.

If all else fails a picture works.

...errors happen. Probably a simple mistake.

Honda used totitle their bikes as the year model they sold in, rather than giving them a specific year designation. The U.S. put a kibosh on the practice. :readit:

It may have still been going on though in Italy as late as the '83 models.

Welcome viper63, but I have to say this, Damn, that's exactly the bike I had in '84, best machine I ever had, granted all I'd had up till then was a whole bunch ofBSA's and Triumphs and one kawasaki, but Damn did that bike make an impression on me, what torque, what power! Only now after 10 years of improving theGL1100 I built in 2001 does it come anywhere close to how good that bike was, loved that color Blue too!!!

PS, it was sold to me as an '82 for 1500 Pounds Sterling with only 1500 miles on it. I believed 'em, but let us know a few more details,i.e. brakes, that oughta help people pin it down.

Hello chilidawg,
My goldwing has 110/90-19 front wheels. 130/90-17 rear.
both front and rear brakes with one piston.
From the chassis and engine numbers of 1980 would seem, for the rest of 1981 would seem, because since 1982 the greatest mounted tires.
but I wonder how I could have been registered in Italy in 1983. Thanks again Paul:waving:

Does Italy register by date of manufacture, or by date of first sale?
