Check out this vendor, they have some motorcycle kits - pricey mounts - but will give you some good ideas. They have an antenna with a shortlead (8") if you want to mount it on your handlebar next to the unit and they have rain covers for some of the units.

I installed my Starmate 5 on the left handlebar. I used a RAM mount (the one that just has a round plate to attach items to, then made an L-shaped aluminum backing plate to attach the docking station to the RAM mount. I run the audio thru the aux input (on an 1800).
The preset buttons are too small to press with gloves. I had an old audioplug from helicopter headset. I cut off about 8" ofthe clothcovered wire, wire tied the endone of the unused holes in the back of the RAM mount andit hangs neatly betweenthe switches and the brake res. The smooth rounded plug makes a greatstylus to punch the buttons with.
