A quick rundown:

In 2007 my brother in law was diagnosed with brain cancer. He went to MD Anderson and they got about 90-95 percent of the tumor, but this week he went back for his checkup and it looks like it is back again.

He will be returning to MD Anderson on the 3rd of November and will be having the surgery again. He will be going with his wife and his children will stay here in OKC with us and family.

Steve is a Midwest City OK Police Lieutenant and has 6 children, we will be doing our deal to help take care of them.

I hate asking for help but this isn't for me it's for him and his wife while they are there. This could stretch out to a couple of weeks. They have lodging taken care of so they don't need a bed but just some company would be great for them.

If there are any ideas please let me know, if you PM me I will give you his contact info.

My greatest appreciation to you all.

Jeff

Cant offer more than prayers...

I have no idea where MD Anderson is. What I can do is offer up prayers also.

Another route you might want to look into is the Patriot Guard Riders Help On the Home Front program if he's a Vet, if not then still reach out to them for anyone that can visit with him while he's there.

He's a Police officer. The PGR will gladly do whatever they can.

Prayers here from Arizona, wish I could do more.

Prayers are offered as well...... I think we can arrange some of the Houston area brothers/sisters to visit. When he gets settled in let us know and we can arrange another Meet and Greet on a smaller scale.

Jeff and Melanie, Prayers coming from my family to yours.

One thingI can say is MD Anderson is the place to be! My BIL, friend and a friend from church both went there for treatment and are doing GREAT!

Like Pan said, we could probably arrange a small M&G with him.

Prayers are out for him and his family!!!!!

I live in Houston and am a past member of MD Anderson. They can e-mail me at [email protected].

Be happy to help.

I did not have much time to reply earlier but would like to say that I have had family members who have survived and some that have passed from cancer.
I know the stress and loneliness that they went through with stays in the hospitals. Hospitals are ABSOLUTELY the most boring place on the planet.
I know also the stress and feelings of separation anxiety that family (especially children) go through not having someone close to them while they are gone. Please show his family here and there the love and support that they will also need.
This forum has been an AWESOME place to vent and rant, but most of all to gain the support that was much needed.I hope that both you and he will except the showing of support and brotherly love that this extended family has to offer.

Prayers and support

As usual I'm a day late and a dollar short on reading this thread but I agree with both 93Wing, and Panatellos, There is no reason that the "Houston Bunch" can't either go by individually or as a small group...I have Fridays off at this time and I can see no reason that I can't go visit with Jeff's brother.....So as soon as we get the information as to where and when, room number etc, I will gladly go visit Jeff's brother, count me in.....Jeff you know your brother is in all of our prayers......

Jeff: Prayers and best wishes to your family members. Looks like you're getting good response from our Houston members. Keep us informed. Karen and I are here for you if you need any help with the kids.

Contact the local PD. They are either represented by either the FOP or the PBPA get the phone numbers for them and give them a call. You will probably find that they will rally around him and his family.

Thanks everyone. Things have been going good actually, his church and the Midwest City PD is helping to pay for the families hotel rooms and Melanie is going to be driving their parents down for the day of the surgery. She will be online down there and will have access to the site. His first wife is driving the four oldest kids down and the babies are riding down with him and his current wife. Numerous family members are going to help. I'm sure Melanie (Stubbytoes) and her family would love to meet and eat one night while they are down there. It would be fun to take their minds off the horrible situation that this is.

You guys rock.

Ditto on what Bob said. Our local FOP gets involved with similar things all the time, as do other Police organizations.
