I'm shopping for a motorcycle and after flirting with the idea of getting a Harley for the past 30 days or so I'm starting to come back to my senses and zeroing in on a Goldwing. My first bike was a '71 Honda CB750 and I put 40K on it from my mid 20's to my mid 30's and then I sold it and didn't ride for almost 20 years. Then in my early 50's I bought a 2000 Valkyrie Interstate and put 20K miles on it over the past 10 years. A month or so ago I did one of the dumbest things in my life and sold my Valkyrie....big mistake. I've test driven several Harleys...the Ultra, the Road King, the Streetglide.....and they all handle okay and look sexy in a retro Americana kind of way but boy oh boy do they suck in the power department. Why I didn't realize I would miss the Valkyrie's power before I sold it is beyond me. So, boo hoo, it's gone and now I have to look forward to finding a bike that can give me a thrill like the Valkyrie did. I've never ridden a Goldwing and frankly they've not hadmuch visual appeal to me because you can't see the heart of the beastthrough all the plastic covers....but I think I can get over that little detail. So, I hope to soon pick your collective brains regarding the Goldwing before I actually go to a dealer or buy a used one from a private party, which is more likely.
