Hi all,

I have a "humming" sound in the alternator area when the

bike gets warm on idle, so when started it takes a few minutes before the

humming gets louder. Also when I stop after a longer ride, wait a few minutes,

start again at first the sound is mostly gone but comes back after a few minutes.

It's NOT the wine sound most forums are talking about, it's a "deep humming" sound

like an old washmachine. Also strange is when I hit the brake lever (and the 5 stoplights come on) the sound goes away for a few moments, so when I take power from it I guess.

A tech from Honda said it could be the bearings, especially the rear one, so my question is if anyone had the same issue and what the solution was, bearings or other things that have to be replaced or a totaly new one.

The bike is from 2007 but only has 3500 miles... (no warranty).

Regards and thanks in advance, Pierre

Sounds like it could be your alternator bearings going bad.

HEY!!! That's my bike!!!!! Where'd you get it!!

Try getting a stethoscope and listen around the alternator for the noise. Might help pinpoint an area to look in.
