I found my whistle

Got my 98 SE all back together and took a few short rides. Had a TERRIBLE whistle 45 - 60 mph. Took a roll of duct tape and taped stuff up, couldn't find it. Then on the way home I put my feet up on the Markland hiway boards for the first time. whistle gone. Took feet off (off the boards, not off my legs) and whistle came back. Only posting this in case someone else has similar problem. I'm sure the boards could be adjusted or something but I just took them off. For sale on the for sale board. Bob

Maybe you should put them back on, might keep deer away!

/forums/images/emoticons/confused.gif as you are fond of pointing out .. Deer whistles do not work... because deer cannot purse their lips that way... and I believe that the same applies to highway boards.. Deer cannot bend their legs this way.. (legs bend backward ) so they would have no use for highway boards../forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/waving.gif SilverDave

Deer can't whistle because deer can't pucker. Let's try a little Preparation-H and see if we can't induce a good, whistle-rousing pucker!

The windshield on my last GL1500 used to whistle when the vent was closed. It drove me crazy for months until I discovered that the screws holding the vent in place were loose, when I tightened them up the whistling stopped. I used to turn up the radio volume to drown out the whistling. :band:

Seems to be a common strategy, I used to turn up the radio in my first car to cover the sound of rods knocking. It worked for awhile. One thing about those old solid cranks with splash oil, one loose rod didn't hurt the lubrication of the mains and other rods.
