Current things going on. Getting things done for my daughters graduation party next June.



1. Putting in a new bathroom. Just finished drywall. Ready to prime, paint and then tile. Then final plumbing, hook up lights and fan and DONE!



2. Ripped all of my front landscaping out. Have about 2...maybe 3weeks left to plant, then will have to wait until spring. Also multiple other landscape things to do.



3. Need to finish priming my garage (22X38). Just finished the drywall in there and have 90% of the primer on. Need to build doors for my storage I made and organize it.



4. Need to strip and restain the deck (16x20).



5. Need to cut out the old sinkingblacktop drivewayabout 4 feet from where my garage floor meets it, fill it in, tamp it and have concrete put in. Also a new sidewalk.



Need to put front brakes on the truck and all 4 on the car, plus plugs.



6. The family wants to go to the state fair Sunday.



With all of this going on, and very little time left before winter...all I can think of today is getting up tomorrow morning, driving the wingNorth 2 hours to go on a toys for tots run around Milacs lake and then the 2 hours back. Maybe with a short casino stop.It's suppose to be 79 degrees and sunny "with white puffy clouds". It's been a couple weeks since the ride along Lake Superior. I have :badgrinn one shoulder and :angel2n the other. One says "Stay home you idiot". And the other saying, "Go! Go! You don't have many more days like this left to ride!" What to do??? PLease VOTE.

You need a 4th option, the one I use in these situations. "Learn to live on less sleep and do your honey-do's at night and ride during the day." :cheesygrin:

Very good point. I would prime and paint the bathroom tonight, but have a party to go to for some new folks who just moved into the hood.He rides a Victory Hammer, so need to see if I can start the conversion

Do a little on those other things, but get in as much riding as you can while you can. You will NEVER be caught up, especially if you are married. (I'm divorced)

While I have several other bikes ready to ride, I am trying to get the Goldwing back together before riding season starts (here riding season is in the winter) and have been putting off other things to do it. I mean, they'll still be there waiting on me. I WILL get to them someday.......

A few years ago I was having a discussion with my then 13 yo stepdaughter. I was frustrated with her for being so lazy in regard to household duties and chores. I said, somewhat rhetorically, "So just what do you think life is about anyway?"

She didn't miss a beat and responded immediately with, "Life is about having fun!"

In a moment of adult stupidity, I snapped back, "No darling! Life is about getting things done!" I have regretted that moment ever since.

Now... while I am unwilling to concede that she was entirely right, I have to admit that this turned my thoughts inward into an entirely new direction. Life is about living, and living is about not only about being responsible and productive but also about pausing to play as often as you are able.

So I have amended my notions on what life is about to include a certain amount of gratuitous goofing off! For me that means running the road.

Otherwise... what are you working for?

I accept that we all have responsibilities, but if you take away all reward, you're a slave and your life isn't really your own.

For every thing... there is a season.

Thanks for this! Sounds like what I try to tell my 15 year old son all the time. Gave me something to think about. As it ended up, I had just a wee bit to much fun last night/this morning. It's after 11:00 and I am just finishing my coffee. So, I am off to clean up a small battery acid leak from my garage floor, then prime the bathroom and pick out tile. We set 3:00 P.M. as departure time on the bike. Won't make the toy run, but have a nice little 5 hour dinner run planned. The the state fair tomorrow with lots of family! Thanks for the votes and thoughts.

I am gratified by this. It is nice to know that after the North/South thingy you and I are still on speaking terms. I know I sometimes come across as harsh and unrelenting, but I want you to know that I value your input... and respect your point of view. If you ever get down to Texas give me a shout! I'd love to meet you!

It's all good...

Otherwise it is only... bad.
