Hi 83rider, you not a dunce. Same thing has happened to a lot of us. I had intermittent problem on my 1983 GL 1100A. Chased around for several days. Finally removed the dog bone fuse and it fell apart in my hand. Best to replace it with a 30 amp blade type fuse holder.

After my carb rebuild earlier this year, I reinstalled everything and then spent1 hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't start...the fuel petcock was turned off! Now that's a dunce! Don't feel bad; glad you got it fixed!:action:

Don't feel bad, how about the guy with an 1100, or 1200, cranking with the kill switch off.

I've never done this.:D

The 1800's won't crank with the switch off, I wasn't sure about the 1500's, now I know.

My buddy on his first ride on his new bike stopped for gas in the Mojave desert. Couldn't get it started so he called his wife to bring him the manual a hundred miles away. Boy was she pissed when he read the part about the kill switch.
