Idle Problems

I did a search for this as I am sure I am not the only one with this issue. However, I did not find anything.

I have a 1997 Goldwing that when I turn the handlebars to the right, the idle will change by 750-1000rpm. I had the same issue about 7 years ago, but cannot find the documentation as to what was done. I am going to assume that maybe a vaccuum line is routed wrong, but not sure where to start. Any help would be great.



I know I am late here, but Happy Canada Day to all those above us(Was July 1st, if my memory serves me right), and Happy 4th to all of us in the USA.

hi corey what you have is one of the trottle cables snaging if you havent done any work to the bike in that area air filter ect open the trottle housing on the handel bars and spray some wd40 down the inside of the cables you also may need to follow the cables down to make sure one is not cought some were

Funny you should mention the work. Now that you say that, I am thinking it has done that since I put a fuel filter and air filter in the bike.

All I can think it being is you moving the choke cable. My front end is apart right now, so I went out and looked at what it could be. Played with it by moving things back and forth. There are hydraulic fluid cables, electrical wires, and the choke cable. I can see nothing at least in the front end that would do that except maybe the choke cable.

Lubricate the choke cable while you are doing the throttle cables.
