1993 gl 1500 se. the weirdest thing, i accidently bumped the starter button while the bike was running and everything cut off. usually if you accidently hit the starter button what you hear is the starter freewheel. Is this the sign of a starter solenoid going bad. just put a new starter in a few months ago the old one had a broken wire in the armature and was still starting the bike but barely and also it was making the reverse move really slow. did also have an instance in where the starter stayed engaged for a split second but i though maybe my starter button was sticking so i sprayed some contact cleaner on the switch and it never did it again but now i'm left with the weird cutting off if the starter button is tapped when running. now i don't make it a habit of hitting the starter button when the bikes running but i just thought that seemed strange. anyone have any thoughts?

The starter button does cut power to the headlight, I was not aware of it also cutting off the ignition. However if the remaining voltage were to drop below 9.6v then the ignition will not fire.
It's amazing how many WEIRD things can go wrong with these machines...good Lord, some of the stuff NASA builds is probably less complex!
True but these bikes were American made using Japanese designs by non union workers.
NASA projects are Government made using American designs and parts made by the lowest bidder in Taiwan.
