HI,

in short :1995 1500 se goldwing. No power at all on ignition. Main fuse oke, fuses on the left oke. power on the contact wire behind the left lower (thick red cable coming from behind) but no lights, no dash no nothing. Battery fine. Put the bike in te garage yesterday and today without any change no power what so ever. What to do? Am I overseeing something simple?

After cranking the engine to try to start it, take out a sparkplug from each side of the engine and see if the plugs are wet.

If they are not wet then you may have a plugged fuel filter or possibly a bad auto fuel shutoff valve or a bad vacuum to operate the auto shutoff valve with.

If the plugs are wet, see if you can get spark from them after you check the kill switch mentioned above.

How does he crank it over to check for spark if he has no power to anything:?



Are you sure it isn't in reverse?

There are 2 main fuses on a 1500, one for the alternator and one for everything else. Have you checked the battery connections?

unbelievable! fixed, (for the moment that is) it is the fuse compartment, not the fuse!, of the starter Relay (switch A near the battery) And why did I not find it in the first place? The fuse is not broken! Let me explain. When checking ignition switch 8-P-BLK I found out that I did have power, only to disappear when turning the key. So it had to be between the battery and this ignition switch. So I checked the starter relay again, but this time opened the whole compartment. To my surprise it was completely melted together! I improvised without the compartment and a charger fused wire. connected and voilá: power, and even started. Now I have to find a new fuse compartment for the relay switch and build my bike up again.

How this all happened over night. I still don't know..... One possibility: near the switch I have a (iron) brake hose for my sidecar, maybe it hit the possitive pole..... I think I'll insulate the the hose this time...

yep, this is exactly the same issue. One major difference, My search lasted only two days....! unfortunately I could not find this forum thread in the first place, otherwise it would have probably prevented me from dismantling half a bike! but thank you all for the comments! Marco
