I believe you can reach up with a socket and long extension to remove the two bolts holding the switch in place, no need to remove the the top bridge.

ok, i was able to get the wing to "light-up" and it tried to engage the starter but the ignition switch was buzzing so i'm sure now that it's bad and NOW it won't do anything so i have to replace the mofo. can i remove the top triple-trees without jacking this behemoth up? will the bottom trees hold the forks? i have no motersickle jack.

thanks for the replies. that would be excellent. i need to remove that fairing today and give it a good look.
I have rebuilt Honda ignition switches, they are not that hard to do. From my experiences, they fail because of the rivets that hold the wire connectors get loose, and with a few taps of a hammer you can tighten them up. Worth a try.

ok, i changed out that switch and it still didn't come on so i started parting-out this behemoth pos. i HATE complicated motorcycles. what i want is a 70's ironhead sportster. simple... nice...
