Long story short, I loaned out my goldwing and when I got it back one of the two trunk latches was broken off and laying in the trunk. It is the square metal tang with a rectangular hole in it that is screwed onto the inner trunk lid liner. Its still screwed onto a piece of the plastic that was broken off of the inner liner plastic.

I've read in the past that people have unscrewed the inner liner in the process of installing a trunk rack (to fill the void between the inner and outer trunk lids.) This leads me to believe that the inner lid may be purchasable were it not for the fact that my GL1500 is out of production.

Before I resort to trying to glue the broken plastic back together, I'd like to know if I can still purchase the inner trunk lid. But I have to admit, I've looked at the microfiche and I don't see it listed.

Anybody have any ideas on where I can get one?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike C, could you post an image or part location of what you are looking for? (parts page and item # would be best?) as I am not sure which part you are looking for. I am sure we can help.
Did you "mention" this to the borrower of the bike?....:lash:

Cheers,
Peter.

The only inner liner that unscrews that I have seen is on an 1800. All of the 1500 lids I have seen have everything bonded together, not screwed.

Thanks for the quick replies... but I didn't get an email notification from the system. I'll have to look into that.

No, I didn't mention it to the borrower, for a few different reasons. Not the least of which is that it won't change the problem I now have. I'll try to post a couple pictures. I think Rudy is right though. It appears that the inner liner is spot welded with plastic/ABS in several places. I'll bet my recollection is of a GL1800 article...

If I can attach a couple pics to this, I will, otherwise I'll just post each one at a time..

Thanks for you thoughts and ideas.

This is the part that's broken off and the of the can of ABS cement I picked up from Home Depot. I haven't glued it in place yet, so if you have any ideas on a better or different cement, please let me know.
