After taking my carbs off I noticed that two of the manifold gaskets were damaged (the ones that connect to the heads.) If my local Honda dealership does not have any in stock is there a substitute such as an o-ring?

Should just be an O ring. The Harbor Freight metric O ring kit has a whole stack of them for between $5 and $10 depending on if they're on sale or not.

Honda Direct Line says it's a 40 x 2.6mm

I ordered them from my local dealer and had them in a couple of days.

or you can run with damaged ones.... lean out the mixture and burn your exhaust valves....

probably cheaper to replce.... I have found that the dealer can order things like that and get it as fast as any mail order and you do NOT have to pay chipping charges... just depends on how convinient you dealer is

those big orings can be obtained on hardware stores. its not an special hard to get size

I used hardware store rings they worked fine. The bike didn't care that they weren't metric.
