Hi, once in a while on turning the key to startup, every thing will shut-up even the little clock on the dashboard! I thought at first my battery was faulty... then after changing it same problem. I gave a little tap on the Fuse Holder just beside the battery and the wing will light up and start. So i tighten the screws that hold the fuse. But the problem comes back once in a while. So a little tap will fix that but I am afraid that it might refuse to start sometime in the future, does anybody has advice on this issue ....

I had a 84 Aspencade and the flat metal main fuse was giving problems. I had a inline flat push in fuse holder, I wired it to the two screws on the metal main fuse and plugged in a 30 amp fuse never had another problem...

Very sound advice for an older wing. The automotive plug-in style are also more readily available and more durable,(easier to change).

sbournival,gb45 gave you some good advise. There's a good chance that is your problem. More than likely the problem is where the 2 red wires plug into that starter relay. The wire connector & terminal burn down in the relay where the 2 red wires plug in. Look closely & see if the plastic connectors are burnt & oozing out of the connection area.

Probably the best long term repair is to just cut the two red wires close to the starter relay then solder them together, then solderboth those red wires toone wire of a sealed automotive 30 amp fuse holder (see picture). Then solder a large terminal ring on the other wire of that fuse holder & fasten under the battery's positive post screw. gb45 was lucky in that just hooking to those flat fuse screws worked, in most cases if the red wire connections are burn that won't be a viable repair.

In making the repair use splice clips to crimp over the wires before soldering & cover the solder joints with heat shrink tubing, then use plastic convoluted wire covering over the wires for added protection. If done neatly & correctly you will have a lasting factory type repair.

Thanks for the advice, i tried to find 2 red wires on the connector, but the wires (4) to that connector are clockwise red, green/red, yellow/red and yellow. Which one goes together on the external 30 amp fuseholder.

green-red |_|_| Yellow-red

red|_|_| Yellow

I Had the fuse holder just connected to the 2 screws that were holding the old 30 amp fuse, but my battery just died on me , wonder if it has anything to do with it

Shouldn't have caused the problem.

sbournival ,

Well it's NOT the (green & red) or (yellow & red) as those are the relay energising wires.

It's definitely the larger red one but other wire should be a red wire with a white stripe not a yellow wire.

In looking at the relay it is the two larger wires that are closest to you (the ones around the rear are relay energising used for starting control.
