Wanted to say hello to the goldwing riders out there, I rode 350 honda growing up on tthe island (Trinidad and Tobago) and tried the 2000 cc twins in the usa. Recently the opportunityfor a 1997 SE came upwith 42000 miles onit so I took it. Maybe being new to the world of tourers I am very impressed with the bike's smooth operations. I am new to this type of machineafter close inspectionsreplace rearbrake pads and change the oil , is there anything I need to be concern about at this time, like schedule maintenance offinal drive, carbs etc thanks Goldhead:coollep:

The only thing I can think of is timing belt history and final drive and drive shaft maintenance history. Has the timing belt been replaced, if so how long ago? If it hasn't been done in the last 10 years, you will probably want to replace it. The final drive and drive shaft ends needs to be greased every once in a while, and most people overlook it. It's not hard to do when changing a rear tire, so you will probably want to do it the first time you change the rear tire.
Neither of these are problems that should detract from the bike. It's just that Honda didn't recommend any maintenance, so they don't get done, but they really do need some attention.



If you have any questions, put them in the technical forum or the general motorcycle discussion forum. You will get lots of visiblity there. Only about a dozen or two greeters look at the messages in this forum. And usually we don't get back to look at follow ups here.
