Volvo is experimenting with a breathalyzer for cars as standard equipment. You have to blow into it before the car will start and blow less the .08.Seems like a precurser for things to come. Motorcycles next???? Next thing they'll be demanding I wear a helmet.....oh wait, they already do that.
I know we have that interlock device installed on some cars here but usually it's subsequent to an alcohol driving arrest. Personally (not trying to step on toes here!) I wouldn't mind seeing that as a mandatory device. I don't drink but I hate drunk drivers. First fatal accident I attended was a Harley rider that killed his passenger on her 23rd birthday by giving her a "ride" into the left front wheel of a tractor rig. This poor girl was getting her life turned around after an ugly, messy divorce and custody battle for her 3 year-old. Then this show-off creep runs into the semi and he's not hurt but she was fatal. Last I heard the son and ex-husband were living out of a car in Wyoming someplace.

Wow! Sorry guys! I apologize for the soapbox!

In my province (BC ) very few bikers even attempt the test on anything but a friends borrowed 500... there is a complex s-salom course/forums/images/emoticons/shock.gif, and a few slow u-turns too difficult for a big bike... and they do NOT move the cones farther apart for bigger bikes... But congrats , Medic... and welcome to the wonderful world of wingingSilverDave/forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/cooldj.gif
Umm I did my test on a full dressed 1980 CB750 Custom last year in Williams Lake, BC. Piece of cake, and yes they do move cones for larger bikes, they have you push the bike with steering locked over and no lean (no lean was the hard part with bigger bike) then measure turning radius. If the examiner does not do this then he is violating their own testing proceedures. I am sure I could have doen the test on my GL1200 also, as long as the lot was level,:weightlifter: and the low speed tests, hell they are easier on the wing, it balances better :cheeky1:

Williams Lake /forums/images/emoticons/big_grin.gif.. Good.. I have talked to three Wingers at the Surrey terminal , and they did NOT move the cones./forums/images/emoticons/tongue.gif.. one of them failed, and had to come back on a 500 cc...  But then... I have just told you more about Surrey/forums/images/emoticons/mad.gif , and less about the test ... But  that is good to know... if I fail my next test.. I will be up to Williams lake SilverDave/forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/cooldj.gif
