Went to Walmart today to find some Sylvania SilverStar Ultras but could only find these on the shelf. #9003/HB2 ST/2 They say H4 compatible. $44.

They are not the Ultras...so I may have to return them. Can you get the Ultras at Checkers???


PS - I have 93 Aspencade GL1500

D-Rod contacted Sylvania. Here's their response...

Sylvania came out with the SilverStars that were a very bright light. They had a special one for the motorcycles (the Silverstar H4-ST) that took more vibration. When I needed a set I went by Rudy's recommendation and at the time the Ultra SiverStars came out. I wrote the company and this was their reply.

"Good Afternoon Dennis,
Thank you for your inquiry. You can use part 9003SU to upgrade your
motorcycle to our SilverStar ULTRA. The product can be installed in the
place of either original equipment part 9003 or H4.

They made the ULTRAs brighter and more resistant to vibration so there is not a special motorcycle one.

I was lucky as there was a rebate on them and I found a cheap price. Got the set of two for around $22 with shipping.

Check at amazon.com, search for 9003SU, got to NEW AND USED. One guy there is selling them for $29 plus $5 for shipping and they are listed as NEW in package.

Thanks Mike for clearing that up for me. It seems I at least picked the right mounts since they said you can upgrade from the "9003" (which I bought).

I'll look for the Ultras!

That's the set I put in mine. I never saw them at any Wal-mart, but Auto-Zone and Advance Auto carries them. At least around here.

You won't regret the Ultras....:waving:

I get them at O'Rielly Auto........ one bulb I think was 25$. The problem I am having......... have put in 2 of these in one season, over 14,00 miles. I did not touch the bulbs with my fingers. I think they should last longer............ I ride 1200 by the way.

Silver star bulbs are well known for having a short life, otherwise they are fine

Dang........ just what I need is a short life high dollar bulb. I went ahead a bought a OEM bulb with my last servicehonda order. It was only $5.85? Should have gotten a couple I guess..........

curiosity is what got me, i bought a pair of PIAA bulbs on amazon.com , they are similar to the Silver star bulbs but a little more expensive, paid about $55 for a pair of H7 bulbs delivered

so far i have about 4,000 miles on them, they are noticeably brighter than the stock bulbs but i will have to wait and see how long they last be for making a decision about buying them again

I loved the brighter light from the Silverstars,

BUT, one of the new set burned out in about 7,000 miles :X

The phillips vison plus is as bright a bulb as the Stars, costs a bit less and has a long life.
