Well, the wing is loaded up and gassed. Last night I was up till 3am getting the rear shock seal in. What an exercise in stupidity. I got the thing put back together and realized that I forgot to put the oil in. Well, I didn't want to take it apart so I had to find a way to get the oil in through that little hole. After several failed ideas, I found a way to do it without loosing the measured oil. I found in my little box of odds and ends a 1cc syringe. Just draw the oil in and squirt it into the hole, east right?

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY CC'S ARE IN 12.5 FLUID OUNCES OF OIL.... A LOT!!

Anyway, I finally had the oil in, out the shock in, reconnected all the brackets, reinstalled the saddlebag and powered up the old air compressor. Put the ait in and heard a loud hissing sound....I FORGOT TO HOOK THE AIRHOSE TO THE SHOCK. So pulled the saddlebag, pulled the brackets over the upper shock bolt, pulled the shock, hooked up the hose put it all together again, well, after I made sure it was holding air I put it together. In bed by 3 am and up by 7:45 to get Wendy to work.

So today I spent going over evry nut, bolt and screw, checked the air and fluids, the checklist. Did a final ride with my uncle, came home loaded her up and relaxed.

Tomorrow we head out for New Hampshire, hopefully we will be at our hotel by 4 pm at the latest. Wendy had been there before so she picked out our route and some sight to see, we'll also be stopping off to visit my neice in Laconia. We'll have 2 days to spend just cruising the state and come home Wednesday.

So, until then my friends, I'm heading for a well deseved (and needed) shower and get some sleep. :waving:

That's normal for me. I always chuckle when I talk to a mechanic friend about me doing some of my own mechanic work (which I do when I can) and he tells me oh thats an easy job should only take you 45 minutes. About 3 hours later and a bunch of:cussing::headbanger::headbanger::headbanger::headbanger::cussing:Later after I've finished up and have a feeling of self satisfaction I look at my work and wonder where did those 45 minutes go :?

That story is the very essence of having an old motorcycle. All of the time spent getting it working right, then pretty (which yours is), plans all set and then you say to yourself "Maybe I'll work on that shock before I go". Or the fairing, or the plugs. Then the FUBAR begins. The kickstand won't go down, it won't turn over because of the radio was sucking juice, you break a valve stem. Then you are in bed by 3 am.

Is it easier to stop by Jiffy Lube and get the car ready, then head out? Oh yeah. Go ahead, take the car. Listen to the wife or the kids talk away the miles instead of hearing those noises on the bike that you know are leading to a long stop in some god-forsaken town. Go ahead and miss the wind, the smells, putting up your feet on the foot pegs, twisting the throttle back as you exit an apex. Hearing the hum of the deer alert.

Easier? But why?
