I found this forum by googling "clunking gears in GOLDWING"
Brought me to here a and other links explaining this is normal.
Hi I like your forum, love my new bike, purchased it from dealer for 3400 Canadian certified, I would class it as in excellent condition, NOT mint, but excellent.
I could have got lower mileage and lower price uncertified, but really think I got a good one. I like the folks at the dealer, generic dealer mostly have Harley`s.
Mine has 106 thousand KHMS, I purchased the history as well and spoke to the third owner that had it 11 years. Guy told me all about it, what he had done, and how he took care of it.
Had the stator replaced 5 years ago, so hopefully that will take care of that. He confirmed 100% that it was just the second time around in KHMS.
iN FACT HE purchased it from friend who only put 35 k on it over 10 years. Claims his wife was upset when he traded it in for her for a Yamaha of some type, she wants another Wing, unhappy with Yamaha.
The clunking gear shift from first to second only happens sometimes, I thought at first it was just me getting used to new bike, but after searching and finding this is very common, not worried.
I find that if I go from first to second without hardly any RPM it`s good, but still testing....Sometimes it`s as smooth as silk
Anyway so far so good
I had/have whats left of 30 day warranty, I did take it back first week, thought clutch was slipping, but was air/dirt in clutch system. They bled the system with fresh fluid etc and that took care of it... yes they should have discovered that earlier, but, I give them break.
Would like to upgrade stereo, I use a Apple mini ipod, that plugs into CD input on older am/fm cassette , but not happy with sound, maybe just change speakers?
Thanks hope I did not go to long
Dealer showed me list of parts he put on it
