I just returned from a 12-day, 5600-mile trip from Virginia to Needles, CA. I got a chance to ride some great rodes during the trip (US Route 50 through Kansas, the Million Dollar Hwy in Colorado and US 191 in Utah).

I also got a chance to visit Arches, Canyonlands, Grand Canyon and Petriefied Forest National Parks as well as the Rio Grande and San Juan National Forests.

Utah, Colorado and Arizona are some very scenic states!

As expected, the GL1500 ran flawlessly without a hiccup. The evaporativevest and microfibre underwear helped to make the triple-digit heat tolerable.

Below arelinks to some pictures and videos I shot along the way:

Thanks for sharing. That was alot of riding in 12 days. I will be going out west next year and taking 3 weeks to do it, and I thought I would not have enough time

You are absolutely correct! On my next cross-country trip, I will make it a point to include days where I don't do any riding. I think it would make for a much more enjoyable trip.

On this trip, I had 4 days where I didn't start the bike at all. However, that was after 5 1/2 days straight of riding and prior to 4 straight days of riding.

Next year, I plan to ride the Pacific Northwest and will allocate at least three weeks for that trip.

Great trip, great web page, great job, Dennis!

I especially liked the picture, "Standing On The Corner" in Winslow, Arizona.....

You're gonna like the Pacific Northwest: some suggestions -- Highway 12, Lolo Pass, Montana/Idaho; Columbia River Gorge, Oregon/Washington (go down one side and up the other); Cascades Scenic Highway, Washington; and, if you get as far north as Canada, The Ice Field Parkway......

Regardless, it looks like you're one to get the most of it....

Keep on riding!

Cousin Jack, thanks and thanks for the advice on touring the Pacific Northwest. I am looking to do that trip around June/July; is that a good time weatherwise?

I am a long-time Eagles fan and while I able to get a picture of me standing on the Corner, I didn't see the girl in the flatbed Ford (except in the mural)!
