I have a '78 GL1000 and was wondering if anyone has any experience using the K&N air filter in an older Goldwing as this. Any advantages over the paper filter? They are spendy, so was just wondering. Thanks. lonerider.

My 79 wing has a K&N filter. It is life-time and very VERY non-restrictive. I have two K&N filters in my V12 and the difference in performance is astounding compared to paper elements. On eBay they go for 15 to 25 dollars. I wouldn't hesitate to install another if mine went missing. Jim

She's a wee bit newer than yours, but I installed a K&N filter on my 1984 Aspencade and it made quite a noticeable difference. Bit pricey, as you mentioned, but worth it.

I hadthem on my GL1500. The PN was HA-8088 and I didn't notice much difference except that the flat spot I got when the carbs went out of balance every 6000 miles wasn't as bad. The HA-8088 is just a normal K&N replacement for the Honda one, but I do think it's a top quality item.
